Naming few of them is humility, pridelessness, non-violence, tolerance, simplicity, cleanliness, steadiness, self-control and, absence of false ego among twenty-four field of knowledge. We always say, this is my hand or this is my leg or this is my body. It means any living entity is combination of physical body and the soul. If physical body is hardware, then the soul is the software. Our body changes shape and size from birth to death but the person remain same. Thus, you can also understand this way the difference between body and soul. Our body is the field of work and knowing this field of work is knowledge.
Let us understand, above field of knowledge in simple words.
Humility: Humility means that one should not be anxious to have the satisfaction of being honoured by others. The material conception of life makes us very eager to receive honour from others, but from the point of view of a man in perfect knowledge – who knows that he is not this body- anything, honour or dishonour, pertaining to this body is useless. One should not be hankering after this material deception. One should always introspect how he is progressing in his life.
Nonviolence: Nonviolence is generally taken to mean not killing or destroying the body, but actually nonviolence means not to put others into distress. So, one should always try not to cause distress to anyone through his action. Do your best to educate people about real knowledge so that they become enlightened. This is nonviolence.
Tolerance: Tolerance means that one should be practiced to bear insult and dishonour from others. Those who are clear about his goal and continuously marching towards his goal never bother about insult and dishonour from others. You can learn anything if could ignore insult.
Simplicity:Simplicity means that without diplomacy one should be so straightforward that he can disclose the real truth even to an enemy. A man must be able to cut a knot, for everything cannot be untied; he must know how to disengage what is essential from the detail in which it is enwrapped, for everything cannot be equally considered; in a word, he must be able to simplify his duties, his business and his life. Conclusion is live simply so that others may simply live.
Cleanliness: Cleanliness is essential for making advancement in life. There are two kinds of cleanliness: external and internal. External cleanliness means taking a bath but for internal cleanliness on has to follow the path shown by GOD and always remember the GOD.
Steadiness: Steadiness means that one should very determined to make progress in spiritual life or in his duty. Without such determination, one cannot make tangible progress.
Self-control: Self control means that one should not accept anything which is detrimental to the path of progress. One should become accustomed to this and reject anything which is against the path of progress. This is real renunciation. The senses are so strong that they are always anxious to have sense gratification. One should not cater to these demands, which are not necessary. The senses should only be gratified to keep the body fit so that one can discharge his duty in advancing in life. The most important and uncontrollable sense is the tongue. If one can control the tongue, then there is every possible of controlling the other senses. The function of the tongue is to taste and to vibrate. Therefore, buy systematic regulation, the tongue should always be engaged in testing the foodstuffs and vibrating good words. As for as the eyes are concerned, they should see only beautiful things. Similarly, ears should be engaged in hearing good words.
Absence of false ego: “Only I am doing” or “I am”, this type of believe is false ego. In every walk of life, you are helped by so many persons in achieving your goal. Hence leave your false ego. False ego destroys the minds of people. A man with false ego cannot think in rational way. When thinking hamper then the action also affected. This way person is unable to perform the required duty.
